SPS Seeks Candidates for Opening in Second-Language Acquisition
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies of the University of Florida is seeking a specialist in Spanish second-language acquisition for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor. Qualifications: Ph.D., excellence in teaching and research, native or native-like proficiency in Spanish and English, commitment to program-building and professional service. Grant Awarded
Prof. Luis Alvarez-Castro has been awarded a research grant from the Program for Cultural Cooperation between Spain's Ministry of Education and United States Universities. The project entails a critical edition of Robert Brindle's memoirs, a British seminarist who witnessed the outbreak of the Peninsular War in 1808 while studying in Valladolid.
College Board Appointment
Gillian Lord has been approved by the College Board as a member of the CLEP Spanish Committee.
Letras e Letras da MPB
Charles Perrone announces the publication of Letras e Letras da MPB (Rio de Janeiro: Booklink, 2008). This is a revised, corrected edition of his book with preface by Augusto de Campos.
Humanities Enhancement Grant Awarded
Professor Luis Alvarez Castro has been awarded a Humanities Enhancement Grant. The title of his project is "The Peninsular War (1808-1814) and the Origins of Romantic Travel Literature in Spain".
